Sound System FAQ’s
-
Basic installation generally takes around 2-3 hours ($160-240). More complicated jobs such as those that include reversing cameras will take longer (cameras normally take an additional two hours, $160, to install).
-
Most installations range from 45 minutes up to one hour per speaker. Whilst some installers cut corners here, we take the time to install proper fastening hardware and seal your speakers in the location (note - this does not account for amplifiers).
-
Installing a subwoofer and the appropriate amplifier generally takes around four to five hours ($320-400) for us to install. We take a bit longer than other shops, but we:
Ensure power runs through the chassis are weather sealed
Safe installation with high quaity ancillary and correctly installed fused
Complete tuning to ensure you are getting as much power into your subwoofer as pssible
-
Complete systems begin at around $2000 for the most basic of systems.
From here, the sky is the limit, but the below guide can be used to roughly estimate your budget:$2000-3000: Entry level system with amplified speakers, front and rear stages, and subwoofer (no source unit included).
$4000-6000: Intermediate system with higher end components and amplifiers, as well as integration of a DSP (Digital Signal Processor) for cabin correction and tuning (no source unit included). Custom fabrication.
$7000-10,000: Competition grade system featuring near top-of-the-line components (no source unit included). Custom fabrication.
-
Fabrication is an often overlooked yet crucial aspect of quality installation. Fabricated enclosures ensure tight and cohesive response from your drivers, whilst a well-built amp rack will secure your hardware out of sight (or in, if you prefer to display your equipment).
Prices on fabrication vary drastically depending on the job requirements and the vehicle, however, below is a rough guide:
Custom A Pillars - These take a day or two of labour and generally around $1000 for a pair. Nicer pillars can easily extend up to $2000 for a pair, depending on how many labour hour are required.
Custom speaker pods - These generally run around $300-500 each.
Custom speaker and tweeter adapters - These are simpler to make and normally cost around $100-200 a pair if being designed, or around $50 a pair if it is a design we already sell.
Amplifier racks - These range anywhere from $500 for basic false floors up to around $1000-1500 for multi-piece designs, such as those with cover pieces. Complex geometry, lighting, inlays, embossing, embroidery, etc are all possible, but will further increase the cost. Show pieces will generally cost $2000-3000+

Note - there is often not a lot of choice when it comes to source (head) units.
