Dash Cam FAQ’s

The most basic installations can generally be done in around three hours. However, more complicated and larger vehicles often take longer.
Recently we performed a four channel (two camera units) installation on a BMW X7 which came in at just over five hours.
This is usually a result of:
Curtain style airbag systems that deploy over the doors that require additional care when routing aftermarket wires
Luxury vehicles with more complicated trim disassembly procedures
Plastics in older vehicles tend to become brittle with age requiring additional care
We run all of our cables out of site along the headliner, A pillar or door sill, and C pillar, so they look almost factory

We highly recommend VANTRUE branded units for their exceptional price-to-performance (we are not affiliated with this brand in any way - this is our genuine opinion).
The Nexus 5 and Nexus 5S are both exceptional units which feature 4K recording, night vision, and excellent low-light clarity.
These can be purchased off Amazon in Australia.
We also recommend combining the dashcam with a proper hardwire kit, specifically the VANTRUE Voltage Display Hardwire Kit (the one with the little screen).

This can be done however it is an invasive procedure and will generally take around eight hours to perform correctly.
The primary concern is the side camera units (left and right side) are generally fixed onto the mirror, which will require drilling. For a factory look, fabrication and painting will be required, further increasing the cost.
